altOn picture: A studio interview with Stuart Baker, coordinator of TUSD's only online school, and parent Edward Kile.

The state legislature's new proposed budget, released last Friday puts education on the chopping block, with anticipated cuts up to $83.7 million.

Changes in funding may lead to changes in how education is done, and Stuart Baker has some ideas on that front. As coordinator of Agave Distance Learning, the Tucson Unified School District's only online school, he is taking middle and high school to cyberspace. He appears with Edward Kile, whose son is an Agave student, to explain how online schooling works--and why 10% of TUSD high school graduates would not have gotten their diplomas without it.
