Claroline is a collaborative eLearning and eWorking platform (Learning Management System, LMS) released under the GPL Open Source license. It allows hundreds of organizations worldwide ranging from universities to schools and from companies to associations to create and administer courses and collaboration spaces over the web. The platform is used in more than 80 countries and is available in more than 30 languages.

Claroline was initiated in 2001 by the UCL (Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium) and has been developed following teachers' pedagogical experience and needs. The project was financially supported by the Fondation Louvain. From 2004 to 2007, the CERDECAM contributed to the development of the platform significantly.
